How can I Cat-Safe by Flat Screen TV?

Anyone who saw my question about keeping cats off a silk bedspread will know I'm currently doing my research in preparation for getting a cat (or two). After working through how to protect my most precious possessions (which aren't many!) I've come to cat-safing my home (Making it safe for the cats, not making it cat proof! The easiest way to cat proof your home is not get a cat!).

I have a 32" flat screen TV on small TV table in the corner of my lounge. There is no way for me to Wall Mount it (stupid thing has all its ports in the back not the bottom *grumble*) so I have to find a way to make it safe. as it is, its on a pretty stable base, but should kitty try to climb on it, they could well topple it over. Any ideas?

I suggest you make sure it is mounted to it's stand rather than just sat on the base, on a table. I used to have a CRT tv and a couple of my cats liked to sit on it but they have not tried to sit on my new Flat Screen tv so far. We also had a new kitten who does not appear interested in the tv at all.

My tv (a samsung 32") is surprisingly light and I have heard that small children can pull them over so I would certainly make sure yours is mounted on a stand that would make it much harder for a cat to topple over.

Mine has all the ports at the back and I had an option to wall mount it. It even came with the fixings - check again just in case.

Un55B7000 Samsung - Tv 1 Big Problem

I just purchased the UN55B7000 Samsung the television after returning an open box model 7100. I only had the ability to watch HD TV (no blur ray or games yet), but I must say I am amazed with the quality. I will keep this review short and just mention what I believe are the shortcomings of the TV.

Corner Lights - This is a side effect of this type of television, but I found really annoying. Not known at all if you're looking at a photo full screen, but for movies in letterbox is extremely evident. When I started watching TV I set the setting "nature, which made it very clear corner lights. Since then I changed the setting" Standard "and the color temperature to cool." "In my opinion this minimizes the effect. The lights are still there, but much less of a hassle. However, the settings change to "Standard" does not wash certain colors (like white and yellow diamonds), but I find this an acceptable trade -off.

Auto Dimming - Apparently the TV will automatically change the settings of the range when the TV goes to a real dark. This causes the TV to go too dark for a second, then brighten up. I saw only once or twice and I was not bothered too bad. Apparently there is a fix for this (which I tried not endorse AND NOT). *** With the TV off, press Mute, 1, 8, 2, Power. Scroll to "Advanced", press 0000 - do not press enter. Scroll (arrow down) to CE Dimming and press Enter. Select Movie or Standard, and hit the left or right arrow to turn it off. Done, hit the power. Turn on your TV as you normally would and auto-dimming is now off ***

If it were not for the uneven illumination that would be a perfect TV. Personally I think I've found an acceptable solution, but that is all in the eye of the beholder.

UN55B7000 Samsung - Wise Choice

I have had this TV since September 2009 and love it. Easy to install, great picture even with standard def cable channels. The interactive manual USB is really cool, and once done you can delete the manual and you have a free thumb drive! The "widgets" and the gallery of widgets are a very nice compliment, interactive Picture in Picture is a must have. Nothing like being able to track stocks, check weather, news blurbs and surf while his wife or children are watching their shows.

The only one for me is that you can not use cleaners on the screen. I have two 3 years olds and an old 6YR home to clean the finger print occasional off-screen is rather a task. Last month, I bit the bullet and purchased the wall mount for this unit. Great idea and easy wall mount I have ever installed.

UN55B7000 Samsung - Lear Photos, Ultra Slim Design

TV fine, worked perfectly right out of the box. you can not beat the 1 "depth, it looks great hanging on the wall. crustal framework is clear and it does really look 3d. I have DirecTV and Blu-ray connected with HDMI Onkyo receiver and then to the TV via HDMI.

I thought the red in molding my mind, but its very thin and I'm happy to pay hundreds more just to get the gray border achieved a great deal on amazon after searching the web.
only complaint was the shipping company - were "too busy" the day it was supposed to be delivered - who had set but ended up having 3 cos daus of Thanksgiving.
